   Reverend Walter John Kitzerow  was born 19 July 1886 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States to Charles Fredrick (1863-1934) and Dorottea "Dora" A. Anderson (1865-1955) who had married 20 Dec 1885 in Milwaukee.

His parents, Dorottea "Dora" A. Anderson and Charles Fredrick Kitzerow, had four children: Walter John Kitzerow (1886–1948 ​​); Charles Samuel Kitzerow (1888–? ​​);  Milta Kitzerow (1891–? ​​); George Otto Kitzerow (1893–1981).  The 1905 Milwaukee, Wis. State Census recorded Charles and Dora were neighbors of his brother, William H. and their sister-in-law, Mary and their children, 16 yr. old Joseph (1889), 13 yr. old William Jr. (1892), 12 yr. old Lizzie (1893) and 10 yr. old Ella (1895)..  The brothers had a florist shop on Division Market, h. town Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

When World War I broke out, Walter registered in St. Croix, Wis., June 5, 1917.  His record shows he was a tall, blue eyed, thirty-one year old of medium build with black hair and no physical deformities. He had two dependents at that time, his wife Ruby P.(Gutzenberger/Lutzenberger) and his four year old son, Walter Charles.

Reveremd Kitzerow left his congregation in Deer Park, Wisconsin and began his two year (1923-1925) ministry with the Greenwood, Wis. Trinity Lutheran Church February 4, 1923. In the spring of 1925, he and his young family left to serve the Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove, Wisconsin.

Rev. Kitzerow was installed at the Howards Grove Trinity Lutheran Church on the First Sunday after Easter, April 19, 1925, by Rev. E. Krause from Sheboygan. He filled the position vacated by Ottomar Schmidt who had left a parish in Texas to serve the congregation 1917-1924.  Reverend Walter John Kitzerow held his position for nearly a quarter-century. During that time, he never missed a service or confirmation class because of illness. However, in late February 1948, he complained of not feeling well and the Lenten midweek service had to be cancelled. Less than two weeks later, he was called to his eternal rest on March 11, 1948.

The Greenwood Trinity Lutheran Church began as a mission by Rev. Otto Neuman, then of Fairchild, in 1908, and organized June 14^th of that year with eight charter members: Robert H. Steffen, Simon Schwarze, Julius Voigt, M. Meinhardt, Mr. P. W. Gullord, Herman Froelich, Ferdinand Kuehn, G. H. Kaddatz. The old Baptist church building (now the City Hall) was rented for $10 for one year. The first resident pastor was Rev. C. F. Schrein. The permanent church home was erected in 1913. The parsonage was bought in 1911.

The first missionary served from 1908 to 1909 and again as vacancy pastor in 1911-12. These pastors have served Trinity church since 1909, C. F. Schrein till 1911, M. Wichmann, (1912-1914); L. A. Fischer, (1914); O. W. Schreiber (1915-1922); W. J. Kitzerow, (1923-1925); George Heilman since May 1925.  The Hub of Clark Co., Wis.

Finally, they decided to build their own church. After the church was built, the old Larson school was moved a short distance north of the Trondhjem corner, onto the old Christopherson farm in Warner sec 35. It is from this farm that the name of the present school, “Christopherson School” was taken”
